About
I’m Benoît, an amateur photographer based in Rennes 🇫🇷 and I enjoy photographing genuine moments; either on film or digital.
My journey started just before my first trip to Japan, early 2023. A good friend of mine recommended that I take a film camera with me and shoot with it. I hadn’t done that since I was probably ten years old but nothing beats the feeling of old and reliable hardware. I took my mother’s Canon AF35M, a few Portra 400 and I never stopped since.
Then I got my hands on my late grandpa’s camera gear: a Vivitar PZ3115 point-and-shoot and a Canon EF with a huge lens. The Vivitar still had a loaded film and it was a very fulfilling experience to complete and develop it, many years after my gramps passing, continuing his legacy. I will keep using his camera in hopes my pictures can reach him somehow.
I have since then gotten a Fujifilm X-T30 II which has helped me hone my skills and reduce my film-related costs. The builtin recipes let my photos keep a vintage look and feel, while allowing me to stay off any heavy post-production editing. I primarily use the 18-55mm kit lens and a 70-300mm lens for a greater reach. I also invested in a fixed 27mm for a space-efficient carry.
My collection of film cameras continue to expand as I inherit most of them, except for my Canon A1 I got in a lovely shop in Kyoto.
